JUMP (Jumpin’ Up w/Mighty Power) started officially in 1992 as a tax exempt non profit organization. For the first eight years of JUMP’s existence, volleyball was the primary platform to reach young people with a positive message and challenge. The High Ropes Challenge Course was built in the spring of 2000 with funds from the Thomas A. Ritsche Youth Grant. The grant was awarded to JUMP through the Central Minnesota Community Foundation. The grant was set up for one year of operation, but the mission went on for seven years. During the first three years, the challenge course operated without charging anything. The challenge was an amazing tool. However, with the cost of insurance, maintenance of equipment, toilet rental and staffing, it wasn't very cost effective. Besides... most coaches, teachers, corporate leaders and management thought that the greatest impact was made during the challenges that were done on the ground. That explains the direction taken in bringing the challenge course, or experiential learning on the road. Now, I make on site visits to your facility to make an impact. JUMP still maintains it's non-profit status solely for the purpose of raising funds and finding sponsors for the Drug Free T-shirts (see t-shirt link for more information).
